Q3 2024: Labor
The U.S. Dept. of Labor's Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that the construction industry added an estimated 25,000 jobs in July:
There is overall optimism in the construction labor gains. Both residential and non-residential sectors are filling positions around the country. However, this good news for construction hiring comes at a time when the overall US economy is at risk of slowing down and unemployment rates are at risk of climbing rapidly. [5]
(Note: average hourly earnings for production and nonsupervisory employees in construction has increased by 4.4% on average in the past year.)
Below are the top 5 states that witnessed the most hiring in construction employment in July 2024 according to the federal employment data released by the Associated General Contractors of America:
Florida
Tennessee
California
Ohio
